Badminton Star Saina Nehwal Pockets Victory to Get Indian Grand Prix Gold; Defeats PV Sindhu in the Finals

sainaNew Delhi, Wednesday, January 28 – Saina Nehwal, one of the finest badminton players of India, won Indian Grand Prix Gold on January 26 at the Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium, Lucknow. The 23 year old shuttler registered victory over compatriot Pusarla Venkata Sindhu in the women’s singles contest that was played on Sunday.

Coming back to winning ways, Nehwal was extremely happy. Road to the finals was not easy for her, but she successfully executed all her plans to win the sets in quarter and semi finals. With the recent victory, the world-class Indian shuttler gave a breather to the title drought. She seemed absolutely contented with her performance after bagging the title after long 15 months. Injuries and poor performance in the recent past made her slip on no. 9 spot.

Nehwal is certain about climbing back on ranking chart as she hopes to continue winning further games in the near future. Sealing the fate in her favor, she beat Sindhu by 21-14 21-17 and won Syed Modi International India Grand Prix Gold badminton crown.

Though a number of people supported Nehwal during the match, but at the same time, they even praised the efforts poured by 18 year old Sindhu, who was lately awarded honored with Arjun Award by Government of India.
